Rowes was dead tired by the time the director called it a wrap, pulling him to the side as the crew scrambled around set. For some of them, their day was just beginning.

“Lorena said we needed to chat about something. You injured?”

Always straight and to the point. Honestly, it was so much better than working with someone who beat around the bush for an hour before asking the question. It was probably why she was such a fantastic director.

“I’m good,” said Rowes, only wincing a little as he twisted to the side. He was bound to be sore tomorrow, but Izzy had taken care of the worst for him, and the bruises weren’t anything he couldn’t handle.

Lorena was rushing over to them, her hair frazzled and her purse missing for once. She must’ve been surviving on energy drinks alone, but she still managed to look good.

“Okay?” The director looked to Lorena with one eyebrow raised. “So, what’s the issue?”

Rowes shrugged, kicking his foot against the ground. The boots he’d been jammed into for the last scene fit terribly, and he already had a blister on his big toe. They looked nice, though.

“Rowes, don’t try to deny it,” said Lorena, letting out a sigh of frustration. “I caught you and Isthmus together in that alley, and you looked like you were just about to kiss each other—or had just finished.”

Rowes was going to have to start looking for a new manager before he took a shower. He wasn’t sure why she was being such a stickler, and getting the director involved was way offside.

“You said that earlier,” said the director, shrugging her shoulders. “So what?”

Lorena blinked, her mouth opening and closing as she was struck momentarily speechless.

“You guys fucking?” asked the director, raising one brow. “Not that I care. It’s kinda hot, if you ask me, but the PR team might have a shitfest.”

“No, ma’am.” Rowes had never called anyone ‘ma’am’ in his life, but this moment fit the bill. The director was a terrifying woman, especially when she could brush someone like Lorena off like that.

“Good. I gave Isthmus the okay to practice your scene with you anyway,” she continued, sending another confused look to Lorena. “So what’s the issue? Is it a sexuality thing? We can do a rewrite if that’s what it takes, but Isthmus is right about supporting the LGBTQ community. It’s about time.”

Lorena gaped. “What?”

“Thank you,” said Rowes, not stopping the smirk that slid over his lips as he sent Lorena a victorious look. He knew she was trying to look after him in her own way, but it was about time she got told. “I gotta get back before Izzy misses me. We haven’t got the scene quite right, so I might have to do a little more practicing.”

The director grinned. “This is going to be awesome. Too bad I couldn’t convince them on more than one scene. If I had my choice, I’d have both of you two buck naked and grinding.
